Open Consultation on the CLEVER Project’s Emission Factor Calculation Methodology (Deliverable 3.2)
The CLEVER project is developing a transparent, harmonised, and scientifically robust methodology for calculating greenhouse gas (GHG) emission factors for energy carriers used in transport and logistics. This work supports consistent emissions accounting across transport modes and contributes to the implementation of CountEmissions EU and alignment with ISO 14083:2023.
As part of this process, we are launching a public consultation on Deliverable 3.2, which presents the full CLEVER methodology. The document builds on earlier work on goal and scope and provides detailed methodological guidance for calculating emission factors across energy carrier pathways and transport applications.
Your feedback will help validate and refine the methodology before finalisation. Contributions from researchers, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and practitioners are particularly welcome to ensure the methodology reflects real-world transport operations and supports practical implementation.
The consultation focuses on:
- methodological principles for calculating GHG emission factors
- system boundaries and lifecycle modelling choices
- data quality requirements and reporting rules
- treatment of energy carriers and fuel pathways
- alignment with ISO 14083 and CountEmissions EU
Your input will support the development of a clear, consistent, and widely applicable framework for transport emissions accounting.
